About Me
Hi, I'm Holly an ADHD coach working in Higher Education.
I was diagnosed with ADHD at 49. By then I had completed 3 degrees and had a 20 year career in university professional services, but something always felt a little off. Sometimes everything seemed fine, and the systems and coping mechanisms worked; then there were periods when everything seemed broken. I was striving and succeeding, until I wasn’t. It became a cycle that I didn't seem able to break free from.
Getting my diagnosis helped me articulate the differences between the moments when I was thriving and those when I felt I was drowning.
Learning about my ADHD explained why some things became increasingly difficult, when I had expected and hoped that they might get easier with experience.
It also helped make sense of the contradictions in my life:
the tidy office versus the chaotic kitchen
punctuality at work but accruing penalty charges for late nursery pick-up
effective Committee Chair but missed dental appointments
confidently addressing conference halls but defeated by a blank, white page
meticulous notes but bitten nails
I trained to be an ADHD coach to support others studying and working in Higher Education, to provide space for reflection and understanding, so that they too can equip themselves with their own self-knowledge and awareness to thrive more and struggle less.
